00:00:00.010We’ve always been very conscious of the environment, regardless of regulations. It’s a big deal for us to run a clean and environmentally friendly process. It’s just how we do business.
00:00:27.350I’m John Logel, the owner of Logel’s Auto Parts; I bought the company 8 years ago; I’ve worked in the company since I was roughly eight years old; I’ve done every job here that there is to do.
00:00:41.350My name is Matt Jacobs, and I am the Marketing Director for Logel’s Auto Parts in Kitchener, Ontario. Well, the perception we’ve always tried to break is to get away from that old junkyard or wrecker mentality. We are a recycler, first and foremost, and we are a parts distributor.
00:00:58.300If you have a vehicle that is not suitable for you, or it’s not efficient for you to put money into the vehicle anymore to fix it, you can call us. We give you a price to purchase the vehicle. At that point, you have two options: you can bring the vehicle to us or call us from your office, and we can go to your home and pick up the vehicle for you. After the vehicle is brought to our facility, it is determined if we will save any parts of the vehicle or if we will process it and take all the fluids out. The majority of the end-of-life vehicles go straight into processing.
00:01:35.560We try to educate people on what happens when you want to get rid of your car. Where is it going? Is it being recycled correctly?
00:01:46.460We make sure that all the fluids are evacuated. We take all the oils out. Anything that can harm the environment is removed from mercury to oil to antifreeze. We also remove whatever precious metals, aluminum, platinum, palladium, rhodium, and whatever it may have, the vehicle may have, and then at that point, the vehicle’s crushed on site and then shipped out to be shredded and then melted down to make anything that’s made out of steel.
00:02:15.420So it’s almost everything in the car, like, you know, the plastics, the metals, the aluminum, the copper. If you really break that car down, there’s, you know, almost 80% of it can be reused.
00:02:25.940When a customer calls, they may not know how to go about purchasing from us. So, asking questions is crucial to ensure the customer is aware and comfortable dealing with us.
00:02:37.720We want it to be as seamless as possible for the customer. We want, you know, you walk in here, you need an auto part, and your auto part shows up in front of you.
00:02:44.260So after we determine what the customer needs, the sales staff either have the product on our shelf or we have to buy the product from another partner recycler, which can be anybody in Ontario. We offer every part we can sell, or every part we offer is overnight, so the longest you would have to wait is until the following day.
00:03:06.460We don’t sell junk, dirty, old, used parts, or anything you want basically in terms of we got new parts, used parts, everything’s tested, cleaned, and ready to go in the warehouse. So, if you were to walk in here and needed a taillight, it’s two minutes from the back warehouse, and we have it ready for you.
00:03:23.860I think many customers like Logels because of our customer service and the ease of using us. We try to, you know, do what we can to make the situation and their problem go away.
