Exterior Cleaner & Degreaser: Car Brite Select

TimestampAudio
00:00:03.240Step one: Degreasing the Vehicles Exterior.
00:00:06.130We recommend that you refer to section eight of the safety data sheet for required personal protection when using this product. The first step in cleaning a vehicle exterior is degreasing, which involves the removal of dirt, grease, road grime, and bug residue from the engine, engine compartment, grillwork, wheel wells, rocker panel, door jams and gas cap compartment.
00:00:38.860In short, we’ll remove heavy surface contaminants from the areas of the vehicle that get the dirtiest. We’ll use exterior cleaner and degreaser, a versatile concentrate that safely cleans various exterior surfaces, from greasy engines to grimy rocker panels to dirt-caked wheel wells.
00:00:54.130Using the exterior cleaner and degreaser spray bottle, the cleaner is mixed with four parts water and one part product, as noted on the bottle.
00:01:04.000If you manually fill always add water first, then product.
00:01:06.280If you have a select proportioner, choose exterior cleaner and degreaser with the dial and fill.
00:01:13.710Before applying exterior cleaner and degreaser, wet the areas surrounding the surfaces to be cleaned with cool water to prevent the product from spotting.
00:01:22.450Also, thoroughly wet any painted surfaces to which the product is directly applied, like rocker panels containing heavy road grime.
00:01:31.990Spray exterior cleaner degreaser on the engine and engine compartment, starting with the latch and working down using a consistent pattern and different angles to ensure complete coverage.
00:01:43.150Also, apply the product to the inner hood, avoiding the hood liner.
00:01:48.250Moving around the vehicle, apply the cleaning solution to the wheel wells, door jambs from the latch down, mirror backs, grill work, rocker panels and gas cap compartments.
00:02:05.229Please don’t allow the cleaning solution to dry on these surfaces. Agitate the grillwork and rocker panels with the moist cloth and do-all pad to remove Road film and bug residue. Saving the engine compartment for last, thoroughly pressure rinse all areas degreased, holding the spray nozzle 8 to 12 inches from the surface.
00:02:24.880Pressure rinse the door jams from the latch down with the nozzle facing downward and slightly outward. Recall that we didn’t apply the degreaser to the tops of the door jams to not saturate the interior when pressure rinsing. Ensure all heavy grime is removed from the area surrounding the door latches, and use caution when rinsing around electronics and weather stripping.
00:02:54.940Thoroughly pressure rinse the rocker panels real work and gas cap compartment. When rinsing the gas cap compartment, avoid pressure rinsing the backside of the gas cap door as it can cause damage, preventing the door from closing correctly. Then, move to the engine compartment under the hood.
00:03:05.890Rinse the compartment under the hood and the latch area first, avoiding the hood liner, and thoroughly rinse the engine using a consistent pattern. Stand at different angles to ensure hard-to-reach areas are completely clean and don’t saturate engine electronics.
00:03:20.050Finally, examine your work. If any dirt or grease was missed, reapply the exterior cleaner and degreaser and re-rinse.
